new year, new dress
Wouldn't you love to ring in the New Year wearing this flapper inspired dress from Anthropologie? I find fashions from the 1920's so romantic, don't you? Have fun tonight!

i'm in love ...
With the Alice by Temperley Autumn-Winter Pre Collection 2012-2013.
Aren't these dresses gorgeous?
It would be such a dream to wear these lovely numbers. I especially love the long black lace dress and the short white one.

very handy
The time, effort and love an artisan puts into something handmade makes it so special. These are often times the things that turn into family heirlooms, because fine craftsmanship is made to last. Here are a few handmade things that I'm in love with ...
I want to drape my bed with this hand-quilted A.P.C. Quilt.
Lost Treasure necklace from Sarah Swell. I'd love the gold one.
How rad is this handcrafted tree skirt made from repurposed Red Cross blankets?
This sweet watercolor by Kathryn Wiggins reminds me of an old stitch sampler.

I asked Santa to please send me a bracelet from Scosha ... They have so many cool things on their site.
What is your favorite handmade item?

seeing white
I wear a blazer almost every day. I love blazers. Since seeing Patrick Demarchelier's gorgeous photo of Emmanuelle Alt in the August issue of VOGUE, I've been on a quest to find the perfect white blazer ...
Last Call Jacket by Leifsdottir
Belted Stepped Front Blazer from ASOS
Which do you prefer? I'd love to have the Last Call Jacket from Leifsdottir.

winter, whaaa?
Here we are in mid-December and I can't believe how quickly 2011 has passed by. Can you? These last few weeks have been a blur, but I'm happy to say that I'm back and looking forward to a cozy winter.
Wouldn't you love to pass the next couple of months inside the home of Hitoshi Uchida (owner of J'Antiques in Tokyo), wrapped up in one of those beautiful blankets in front of the fire? His home, located in Kamakura, Japan, displays such a beautiful balance of the old and new, of nature, playfulness, light and warmth. I love it.
You can see more of Todd Selby's photographs of Uchida's home here.

remembering
Apologies for the lack of posting this week. On Tuesday evening, at the age of 96, my kind, lovely, gorgeous, all-around-amazing grandmother, Mary Carmella Bozzo Hughes passed away. I feel so blessed to have had this inspiring woman in my life. It's difficult to measure the impact she's had on so many lives, but the quote, "Do no great things, only small things with great love" truly sums up her life's actions.
