holiday
I had a very merry Christmas and I hope that everyone else enjoyed their holiday, too! We spent Christmas in Bear Valley, and were lucky to have two beautiful days to ski and snowboard.

ballet
I'm disappointed because I don't think that I'll get to see the Nutcracker this year, but I do hope to see at least one show this coming Winter.
Maria Kochetkova is my favorite ballerina in the San Francisco company. We were lucky to see her performance as Odile in Swan Lake this past January. Dreamy!

carine roitfeld resigns from vogue paris
Can you believe it? I wonder who will be taking her place and what that means for the aesthetic direction of Vogue Paris? A press release states that Carine is leaving to pursue personal projects dear to her heart. Good for, Carine! She's had a fantastic run with the magazine and will no doubt still surprise us with her incredible talent.

carrie bradshaw?
Cédric Rivrain, the Paris-based artist who has sketched for everyone from John Galliano to Martine Sitbon, recently posed as Carrie Bradshaw for Double Magazine.
I must say the resemblance is uncanny ...
Rivrain's fashion illustrations have gained cult status for their delicacy, and soft textures. You can check out his work here

tease
I adore these images of Dita Von Teese shot by Georges Antoni for the Australian Mag, Madison.
Dita always looks incredibly lovely and impossibly immaculate.
In the feature, Dita talks to Madison's Nicholas Fonseca about the power and mystique of old-school glamor. Read the interview here.
P.S. Dita is dating the equally lovely Count Louis-Marie de Castelbajac.

baby it's raining
It's a little nasty outside, and I hate going out in the rain ... but a rainy outing wouldn't be so bad in this.
P.S. Now this song is stuck in my head. It's my own fault, really, but I do love a little Rhianna.
P.P.S. Did you see the Glee version mixed with "Singing in the Rain? It got mixed reviews, but I enjoyed it.
the holy grail
I've been hoping to go to the Alameda Point Antiques Faire for some time, but I've always had something else do on that first Sunday of every month (for the past two years!). Finally, this past Sunday I got my wish. Though it was rainy, I had the best time! I've never seen so many treasures in one place. I went with the hopes of finding some antique champagne glasses, but didn't want to get my hopes up, because of course you never find something if you're looking for it ... But, GASP, I did! I found eight of the most perfect champagne coupes you could ever hope to find! They're dainty, in perfect condition, with the sweetest sprinkling of etched starbursts. I bought them from the kindest man, who told me the glasses are from the 1920's and that he always picks them up when he finds them. He even gave me a little discount. I'm counting down till the first Sunday of January. Cheers!

2011, huh?
It's already December? Well, obviously ... that's what my calendar tells me ... which means, I need a new calendar! Fashion Illustrator Kathryn Elyse creates some lovely illustrations and I really wouldn't mind the months coming to an end if I was able to flip to a new illustration in her 2011 calendar.

sarah swell
Sarah Greenberg, the Oakland-based designer behind Sarah Swell Jewelry, creates the most lovely pieces. Sarah's inspiration comes from exploring her urban surroundings, nature and, more specifically, the ocean. All of her jewelry is hand-crafted using ancient techniques and truly transcends age and style.
Collage Gallery, in Potrero Hill, is hosting a champagne reception for Sarah Swell Jewelry and Après Collective this Thursday, December 9th from 6pm-8pm. I will definitely be popping in to check out the new treasures and do a bit of Christmas shopping!

Haaay ... no matter how big of a jerk you might think he is, you have to admit that Jude Law is super foxy.

bump it
The prospect of hosting a New Year's Eve party has sent us on a quest for new speakers ... but we've found that it's surprisingly difficult to find something functional that meshes with our style. This ceramic speaker system, created by industrial designer Joey Roth, "convey[s] the warmth and human feeling of good music" and is exactly what we need.
You can purchase the system here.
follow the yellow brick road
If only Dorothy had these flashy kicks, she would have made it down the yellow brick road and to the Wizard in no time!
